Smalian
Uses the average of the two end areas of the log.
V = (A₁ + A₂) / 2 × L
Newton
Uses both end areas and the middle area for a more detailed estimate.
V = L / 6 × (A₁ + 4Aₘ + A₂)
Cylinder
Treats the log as a cylinder with one constant diameter.
V = πr² × L
A = cross-sectional area, L = log length, V = volume. Measurements are converted to metres before calculation.
